Dor

Now let me try and make some sense here....
Why you should watch this movie?
two reasons ... ...
1)the song yeh housla
2) Shreyas Talpade
both WOW! material..

Shreyas Talpade.... knows how to deliver his lines.
his ....voh jee, bahut hee vichaar-sheel oonth hai... thodi uljhan mein hai
and the.... mein actor chahein jaisa bhi hun..par mein naachna janta hun...
are just two of those numerous times in the movie where he works his ... mmh.. err...thing(!?)
Oh... it is such a delight to watch him on screen..(in almost every frame/scene he is in)
&
Song: yeh housla...
Music:Salim-Sulaiman
Lyrics: Mir Ali Hussain
Vocals: Shafqat Amanat Ali
Salim merchant

try it

thanks to a senior's blog.

hmmpf....

"the whole purpose of places like star bucks is for people with no decision making ability what-so-ever to make 6 decisions, just to buy a single cup of coffee..
tall-short,light-dark,cafe-decafe,sugar-no sugar, low fat-non fat, etc....
So, people who dont know what the hell they are doing and who on earth they are, can for only $2.95 get not just a cup of coffee but an absolutely defining sense of self"

Tom Hanks to Meg Ryan....... You've Got Mail

how

One of those 24hr news channels aired a little story about a woman the other day.
She is somewhere between 70-80 years old(I dont remember exactly).
She lives in a small village in Andhra Pradesh. Her husband, the only bread-earner in the family, died early leaving her to fend for her only child and run the house.
She braved all, raised her kid and gotten him married.
What she and the family was left with, was a single acre of land.He sold it all.
One fine day... he tells her that she is no mother of his and proclaims to not acknowledge their realtionship and asks her to get out of the house.
She asks him, 'but what will I do and where will I go son, look at my age".
He suggests that she could always pick up a stick, a bowl and go begging.
She did start begging... doing the rounds of her very own village and surviving on what she managed to find.
He comes to her one day and tells her that he cannot bear the shame of his mother begging in the same village as he resides.
He asks(?) her to leave the village and go away.

hmm... now this wasn't the first time I've heard of such a thing. Infact I have witnessed such things from very close quarters. So, in a way my reaction has, over the years... diluted(?).
I know it takes every kind, to make this world the place it is.
I just think....
how does he sleep at night?

p.s:did I mention that he is alcoholic.... that helps I guess.

this and that

I think, Tom Hanks will be remembered for the movies he has starred in and Johnny Depp for the characters he has played.
I adore this guy called Rehman... he is simply too good, I reiterate.
I found out what a gentle, funny and witty guy, Courtney Walsh is.(an NDTV show)
I used watch in disbelief when Courtney and Curtley used to bowl from both ends..
I was just then starting to watch cricket..and these two looked unreal to me.
I can watch anything that is remotely related to space.
I used to hate to leave a book unfinished... how much ever boring it might be.
I now wonder, why I took all the trouble..
I seemed to have lost all (if any) sense of grammar and language that I might have possessed..
I am reading a Salman Rushdie currently...
I am watching many of my friends recover and become their own previous selves... you see, half the female population is sick on hearing the news(or is it rumour?)of Abhishek and Ash's wedding.
I believe that dance is divine..
I dont want Angelina Jolie to play Dagny.
I think coalition-governments should be banned.
I dont, however think that it is possible to do so... there are enough signs that this trend shall continue....absolute majority it seems, is a thing of past..
I put a single song on toggle repeat and have been listening to it since the past 50 minutes..
I don't sometimes listen to the song that my winamp is playing..
I don't however turn it off.
I really dont know how to react to the news that SRK will from now on, host KBC.
I sometimes wonder where Saif would be now,had there been no Dil Chahta Hai.
I seem to like people with Hugh as their first names..a coincidence ofcourse....
I will see Magnolia now....

cheers

Impaired and Retarded

First let me clarify, this post has nothing to do with the physically and mentally challenged individuals. I have enomorous respect for such people who defy all odds , give their all and strive to live a normal life, which others take so easily for granted. This post is, however not about them. So, if you are here because google has thrown this page in one of your searches, then sorry, you are in the wrong place.

So here goes....

Unhappy with the lack of a complete and comprehensive classification of the homo sapiens on the behavioural and related fronts, I take it upon myself, this daunting task. The following list is neither complete nor compehensive, but a modest and earnest attempt all the same, at just a part of the infinite whole.

socially impaired..

Now, here you can trust me with, actually 'knowing what I am talking about'. Because this is the category that fits me like a glove.
Ok, so these are the people who think that, its a 'God's cruel little joke' on them, whenever they find themselves in a situation that demands social interaction.

Why God why? why me? is what you will hear, if you are good at mind-reading, when they have to speak. Whatever one might say, this is a cruel world and one does face such a nightmarish situation. And these people will tell you, how true the previous line is.
They wear the 'What do you know?! you can never understand. You can talk.' look.

As in every case, there are furthers sub-cases.Though a full length insight into this next level classification is beyond the scope of this post, I will however, outline it , for my readers sake.
(how very kind of me!)
a)
those who wear an eternal frown on their foreheads and look upon every normal being with a ' Oh! social interaction be damned. You people just dont have anything worthwhile to do'.

b)
the reasonable others who accept the fact and take their little sadness to grave. These occasionally, when they let-go themselves a bit, bear a look of longing and 'oh! how I wish, I were like you' at the random chatter-box.

c)the unruffled ones. Those who do not notice any difference and dont give a damn, even if they do.They give a 'zeesh! Get a life!' look, if they happen to read this post.

Pollock is gone, thanks to Sachin's catch and I have to go and watch the match now! So the further classification has to wait.

cheers.

I did..

-not sleep for the last 34 hours and 1 minute.
-write 4 of those JNTU examinations.
-get convinced that Rehman is simply too good- for the nth time.
-get pissed off with the whole concept of Btech.
-rediscover that I am socially impaired, completely.
-convinced that only Unnikrishnan could have sung that 'O cheliya' track from premikudu.
-wish two of my friends, 'All the best' , for their CAT.
-know all these days that the only thing on my mind, when in social company is to runaway, be alone
- realize later that there is nothing much I can do about it.... even when suddenly, right in the middle of a social conversation, I find out that Bhagwanji decides to take away my capacity to even utter those 'fillers' really?, yeah, true!,Aha,hmm!!!
-
the word filler to indicate, what one does when people look at you, expectantly, for some sought of input, some acknowledgment, compliment or atleast critique.
-see Edward Scissorhands, found it to be shamelessly and unabashedly surreal.
-also see, The Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind. Kate didnot look weird in blue hair.
-no, will see Requiem For a Dream tonight.
-notice that Russel Crowe, is a funny guy afterall and yeah decent mimicry.(Saw Jay Leno's)
-sincerely believe that he must have been, one hell of an orator. Saw a show about him on TV, Martin Luther King Jr.
-fall,hook line and sinker for his lines.......

"Hope for a day, when you woudnt be judged by the colour of your skin, but the content of your character".
"Live,we shall like brothers Or die fighting, like fools".

-read somewhere about: the common crowd liking nothing better than to see a hero fail.....
-and do believe instead that, there is a part in each of us that exults at the triumph of the human spirit, irrespective of , whether one identifies with the person or the cause.
Its always in fashion and relevant.

P.S:the last few lines are the result of a hangover of the show- The legends,Icons &Super Stars of the 20th century. This particular episode on Martin Luther king Jr, Mother Theresa, Helen Keller.
Did I mention.... I adore the 'voice over' guys at Discovery. They have a good&functional larynx.

Grey is IN...

black n white....... exist only in fantasies. it seems...

grey characters...... thats what makes a film realistic . they say....
opinions are not right or wrong... they are just opinions. someone defended...
right n left dont exist.... only my right and your right. a friend quoted.....
absolutes arent absolute...only relatives are. he taught...
right and wrong .... they are subjective. somebody remarked..
people are grey...not good and bad. everybody says....

things are simple... I was told.....

hmmph....

S.O.P blues........

ridiculous isn't it?

p.s:the blues, not the thing itself...

well..

Turning Green....

I watch the proceedings ....
curiously,
Unaware of my capacity for it.....
anxiously,
Expecting a mis-directed outburst.....
unsuccesfully,
Only to find myself smiling....
interestingly,
but , concerned......
disturbingly.....

en route...

Its one of the best rides one can take.....

MP to MGIT....
best time to take:start of the rainy season...

when its all... drizzles and light shower....

its a truly magnificient sight,that.... through the window , of the lush green trees and
the road .....
right out of a postcard....

of meagre traffic and may be too many speed breakers.......
of never being tired of looking through the window.....
and never really registering what your are looking at.......

the seven-seater autos ....
ofcourse those which play the wierdest songs youve heard in your life

huh! wonders-on-3-tiers they are ....
remember the first time you noticed the tiers and their size scared the day lights out of you....
when via narsingi, you cursed the driver to death for giving you free lessons in aerobics...
and when you were naive enough to think that a seven seater would seat only seven people ..
horrified when you actually had to share it with 16 others....( i did ,once)....

oh the ride woudnt be the same without them....

bytes

considering the rate at which I started off... I thought I would have been more frequent with my posts... mind you , i was when I had college, exams and all sorts of things on my mind and the onl y thing I really wanted to do was to write.... but the holidays were a dissapointment.... may be my mind works better when it has things to choose from and it chooses the one that comes naturally...

anways its been raining movies this summer and iam only too happy to have more than i can chew in my mouth... from posiedon to china town, godavari to fanaa.....
and the good news is , there are loads ahead.....

well fanaa..... i came out thinking, it could have been better.. loads may be....
the only thing that makes you sit through the second half is this superb duo of kajol,aamir... never mind where the story was headed... i couldnt have enough of them....and god! kajol.... is she the same girl i saw in baazigar?

and ofcourse the shaayari... what a language man.... urdu.... is.....

jaan use dena jo tumhe dil de...
magar apna guroor usike naam karna jo tumhare liye fanaa hojaye....

and...

you confess.. 'Iam all yours'....
and in that moment of complete and absolute submission ,still be the stronger of the two......
and eyes exude strength and control....

have you seen a camera capture that priceless expression?

rc

reality check! everybody needs it , i guess at one point or other.Times when you are just not yourself.... get a little carried away.....
It can come from anywhere, a friend you meet daily... something you've seen.... read...anything
You question the premises from which you have arrived at this contradiction....

and sometimes it can be just statistics.... raw, impassive, stone cold....numbers....
they give you the chills you never thought possible in hyderabad.
Their purpose is not to refrain you from doing something, discourage or tell its not possible.
It quite simple and plain actually....they force you to second glance the premises you took for granted, just to restate the importance of a word spelled as r.e.a.l.i.t.y..

and

meanwhile... I realised that I can do loads better than this...(i.e the stuff that follows)

another one...

CHOICE!!!!!!!!!!!
how does one choose? well Iam not talking about some obscure part out cerebral organ that equips us with the power to take decisions.
Mine is a more innocent topic..... whom to vote for?
To put it bluntly.... can anyone tell me, how the hell can anyone CHOOSE between MR.Karunanidhi and MS. Jayalalita???
any sane mind would reject any request for further processing and analysis after hearing the names..... I bow my head to the people of Tamil Nadu....

An indepth study of their thought process is indeed needed, atleast to quench my curiosity....

free mangalasutram for every couple that marries,
free computer for every inter passout,
some 30k cash for every girlchild born,
was it free colour tv or a free cable connection for every tv?
I vaguely remember about some free bicycles or 2 wheelers to high school students
was there something for LPG and stoves too?
all this apart from rice and ration at lower costs and the usual stuff and much more .....

and to top it all , the finance minister also joins the bandwagan and he seems to have no problems with it!! Shouldnt he be on checking on their allies before giving complicated and technical instructions and suggestions to industries on absorbing costs and loads of that stuff. I dont intend to suggest that it is a trivial issue, but this stupidity is staring in everyones face. Even a child who can add could tell that these stupid gimmicks would leave MR.Chidambaram's
pocket considerably lighter. When a layman can understand it , why not him? Ofcourse he can but at the end of the day, he is also a politician and a member of the party and in politics, power matters above all!!!!!
What is the EC doing? As long as it is a part of the manifesto , can such thing be allowed?
I think EC as an independent body should be given greater power!
and power alone will not do I guess, shouldnt they concentrate on thousands of crores being squandered for so called promises before counting the no of vans amma used in her election campaign.
Back to the topic....
I dont remember all the promises made because my brain simply refused to take anymore of it and cut all input lines off....

so coming back to my actual question,
how can one choose? and that too from a list like that!!!! Boy ! I would have found it too difficult to make up my mind.......

Is choosing the lesser evil the only viable option left today?
but I doubt it applies to TN polity. What explains 0-40 in one election and 40-0 in the next one!
But one has to give them credit for the perfect rotation policy they maintain keeping both the govt and the opposition on their tows.

It is indeed as a news channel says .... the great indian tamasha fine tuned to blockbuster perfection!! WOW.

I dont know if my how to choose? will be answered.... but come tommorow and whom they chose? will be answered and the curtain falls on yet another Tamasha!!(god bless the guy who framed the word)

on a final note:
morals , principles etc etc...... I had learnt not to expect them from a politician long ago.
but dont they even a ounce of pride , a false atleast????
God save us as long as people like Vaiko walk this earth and moreover called our leaders!!!!1

but there is one thing no one can deny.... politics in this country is the unparalled source of entertainment and interest.....

Will it ever rise to become something more meaningful than that!!!!!!!!

strong words !!!!!??? well you just cant stay indifferent to Indian politics... they inevitably stirr up strong emotions in one......

over and out

Voila.... last ball has been bowled and I scored not a glorious six but a modest 2 runs of it....... well actually I am happy I managed to save my bails from flying off.......
heaved a sigh of relief and came back to pavilion feeling as if I had just conquered the last frontier... (GOD what was I thinking!)
well yes ..... the exams are over....... yuppie......
Is that what Iam supposed to feel YUPPIE? but Iam far from feeling it....
though there is something that borders on feeling relieved, I am not at peace yet...
Ofcourse the exams are over , but their completion brings with them a never before seen clarity on the things that lie ahead......
Its only then that the actual thing seeps in... the realization that its TIME... finally...
to be geared up, to look forward not backward , to make crucial decisions on things you ve been pondering for the past 2 years......
did i say pondering? its such a mild word!! Its has to be a much stronger word.... what is the word that aptly describes a churning, storming, gruelling session with ur brain....?
In an ideal situation , it must not be so tough , you just have to ask yourself the question ... yes that is all...... but alas .... its sad but true.. its not a ideal situation in this case... so cant harbour any utopian dreams !!!

so when things stare you in the face , there is no escaping anymore!!!!! as i said its time....

phew! I almost sound like I have a timebomb clicking away by my side......

but........ ticking away ........ is it not?

Saturday, April 22, 2006
